State of Ohio to Have State PE Standards!

Ohio is about to become the 49th state to have state standards for physical education (Iowa is the only remaining state without PE standards).

At the state board's monthly meeting in Columbus yesterday, Department of Education officials suggested that the board meet the Dec. 31 deadline by adopting standards recommended by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. In addition, department officials said a panel including physical-education teachers should be assembled to develop detailed guidelines for the board's consideration next year. The board is expected to go along with that plan later this year.
