As of July 25, 2007, the website of the Center on Educational Policy provides the report of their just completed study of the impact of NCLB on the distribution of Instructional Time. The sample is large and the data are stratified in some interesting and useful ways. Some of the results will not be surprising (the big hits go to social studies, science, art & music, recess, lunch, and physical education). Some of the detail, however, may be much more interesting -- not least of which is their concluding recommendation to increase time for art and music, but not physical education.
