Middle schools and high schools across the country will now have another valuable resource for healthy living with the Alliance’s new partnership with Channel One (C1N), the nation’s preeminent in-school news and public affairs content provider. With a network of more than 11,000 schools, C1N will broaden its coverage of issues related to childhood obesity and healthy living through on-air and online programming as well as resources, surveys and quizzes designed to stimulate classroom discussion and school action. The network will also feature success stories and news segments related to the work of the Alliance including the Healthy Schools Program. Together, we will reach teens and teachers where they spend most of their time – in school – to drive home the importance of increased physical activity and balanced nutrition in and out of school.
Channel One Network is the premier provider of world news and public affairs content to schools. The network delivers quality information and award-winning programming, via satellite, directly to nearly 11,000 public, private and parochial schools across the U.S. Channel One News, the flagship programming of Channel One service, is a Peabody award-winning daily news show for teens and is free to schools. Channel One News includes 10 minutes of hard news and public affairs content plus 2 minutes of sponsorships thereby enabling the network to bring the service to schools cost-free.
